The Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center Work in Progress Gallery at the California Science Center in Los Angeles recently opened its doors to the public, offering a sneak peek at the fascinating artifacts and displays that will be featured in the new 200,000-square-foot Air and Space Center. The gallery is designed to ignite curiosity about space and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
One of the main highlights of the center will be the space shuttle Endeavour, which is positioned in a vertical ready-to-launch stance, making it the only space shuttle in this position anywhere in the world. Other exhibits showcase the Dragon cargo spacecraft, which has made three trips to the International Space Station, and Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket.
California Science Center President and CEO Jeff Rudolph mentioned that construction of the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center is more than halfway completed, making it a significant addition to the center, nearly doubling its exhibit space. Lynda Oschin, chairperson of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Oschin Family Foundation expressed her excitement about the project, naming it after her late husband who was a significant donor to the center.
The gallery aims to provide an educational experience for all visitors while inspiring their sense of wonder about space exploration. Visitors can get a preview of what’s to come by visiting now as construction continues on this exciting project with completion projected for next year.
