Roper St. Francis Healthcare System, a leading provider of quality healthcare services in the Charleston area, has announced the appointment of Joseph DeLeon as its new CEO. The announcement comes after the current CEO, Dr. Jeffrey DiLisi, decided not to renew his contract last October.
DeLeon currently serves as the president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, a Level 1 Trauma Center in the Dallas area. With nearly 30 years of experience in senior health care leadership positions, DeLeon is well-equipped to take on the role of CEO at Roper St. Francis Healthcare System.
Dr. Megan Baker had been serving as the interim CEO since November and will transition to the position of chief operating officer under DeLeon’s leadership.
Edward McKelvey, chairman of the Roper St. Francis Healthcare Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in DeLeon, citing his long history of excellence in healthcare management since 1991 and his prior service as a captain in the United States Air Force Medical Services Corps. The board looks forward to DeLeon’s leadership in continuing to provide quality healthcare and furthering the system’s mission of ‘healing all people with compassion, faith, and excellence.’
