Report: Texas A&M Baseball Coach Departs for Texas following College World Series Defeat

The ongoing rivalry between Texas and Texas A&M has been reignited, with a new twist emerging just six days before their next meeting. It has been reported that Texas A&M baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle will be leaving his post at Aggies to take up the same position at Longhorns.

This news comes after the Aggies’ loss to Tennessee in the College World Series finals, and Schlossnagle has yet to confirm whether he will indeed be joining the Longhorns’ coaching staff. During a postgame interview on Monday, Schlossnagle dodged a question about his potential move to Texas, calling it “selfish.” However, according to Chip Brown of Horns247, Schlossnagle is planning to bring his coaching staff with him when he joins the Longhorns.

Meanwhile, Texas parted ways with coach David Pierce after eight seasons following the program’s failure to secure a national title since 2005. The Longhorns will officially join the SEC on Monday, setting the stage for a renewed competition between the two teams.
