Sixers Eye Paul George’s Defection from Clippers: How the Team Plans to Capitalize on His Free Agency

The Clippers have lost Paul George as he has declined his option with the team, making him a free agent. This news opens the door for a potential move to the Sixers, who are reportedly planning to aggressively pursue him. With George considering leaving Los Angeles, the Sixers’ focus on building a flexible team could be significantly bolstered by his addition.

As free agency officially opens, George is expected to meet with several teams, including the Clippers, Sixers, and Magic. However, due to salary cap constraints, the Warriors are no longer a viable option for him. The Clippers beat writer Law Murray reports that a source close to George believes he is unlikely to return to Los Angeles and is seriously considering leaving the team.

At 34 years old and coming off a strong season with the Clippers where he averaged over 22 points per game and shot over 41 percent from three-point range, George’s offensive skills and defensive capabilities would make him a valuable addition to the Sixers alongside stars like Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The Sixers have the ability to offer George a lucrative contract with a maximum offer of four years and $212 million on the table. It remains to be seen if they can successfully lure him away from Los Angeles and strengthen their title contending team during this free agency period.
