Tesla Recalls Over 11,000 Cybertrucks Due to Wiper and Trunk-Bed Issues

Tesla is recalling over 11,000 Cybertrucks due to problems with the giant windscreen wiper and trunk-bed trim. This is the latest setback for Elon Musk’s futuristic pickup truck, which has experienced a rocky rollout.

The recall affects model year 2024 Cybertrucks manufactured from November 13, 2023, to June 6, 2024, encompassing an estimated 2% of recalled vehicles. Tesla will be replacing wiper motors on all affected vehicles to prevent potential damage and malfunction that could be caused by “electrical overstress.” In addition to the wiper issue, Tesla is also recalling 11,383 Cybertrucks over concerns that a trim in the trunk bed may have been improperly attached.

This comes after reports in June indicated that Tesla had delayed Cybertruck deliveries due to problems with the wiper system, with some owners reporting issues with the giant single windshield wiper on Tesla forums. Despite these recent recalls, Tesla has not reported any accidents, injuries or deaths related to the faults. The unique single wiper design of the Cybertruck attracted attention during its release, with Elon Musk acknowledging the challenges in finding a suitable solution for clearing the massive front window.

These recent recalls add to the challenges that Tesla has faced in producing the Cybertruck. Following a previous recall of nearly 3,878 vehicles due to an accelerator flaw, this new setback will only make it harder for Elon Musk’s company to meet its production targets for its futuristic pickup truck.
